In 1976, Eric Hill's son Christopher was born. Eric made up a story about a small puppy to read to him at bedtime, when he was 2 years old. In 1980 `Where’s Spot?' was published and Spot quickly became one of the best-loved children's book characters of all time. Today Spot’s adventures remain incredibly popular, translated into 60 languages with over 20 million books in print.
In 2008 Eric was awarded an O.B.E. for services to children's literature. He remains involved in the development of all Spot projects at every stage. "I believe children all have a basic creativity that needs to be encouraged and nurtured and the Spot books seem to provide that encouragement." Eric Hill |
